On the homepage, you can add a so-called slider. This can be used as a method of displaying (marketing) information on the homepage, by maximising the information density without forcing the user to scroll further down the page.
The slider slides images, video stills or animated backgrounds horizontally across the page. You can add up to 4 slides and optionally design the separate slides with a title, short text, and/or action button. The slider changes every 3 seconds. Below you see an example of one slide:
Add the Slides to the homepage
First, you need to add the Slides to the homepage. Go to the side menu in the back office, click on 'Content' and select 'Homepage'. Scroll down to add the content block 'Slides' in the dropdown menu.
Create the slide(s)
To create the separate slides go to 'Content' in the dashboard on the left side, there you can select 'Slides'.
To add a new slide click on the button on the top right. To edit an existing slide click on title of the slide you want to edit.
Fill in General info
Select language
On the next page fill in the 'General' tab info. Make sure to select a language. The slide will only be visible if the language of the slide is the same as the language of the platform. If you are using multiple languages you have to create separate slides for each language.
Determine the sequence
As you can see in the above image, there is a sequence. Here you can decide in what sequence you want to show this slide.
Enter tab text
This is a mandatory field and the text will be shown on the tab beneath the banner. Below you see the tab text: "Start with Purpose into Action" (1).
Fill in the content
Go to the next tab 'Contents' to fill in the content of the slider. Use the above and below image to see what your options are to fill the content.
Fill in title (optional)
In the examples, you see the title "Start with Purpose into Action" is used (2).
Fill in the body text (optional)
See examples (3).
Choose a background image (mandatory)
The perfect measurement for a slide image is 1600 x 640. It should be a JPG file and shouldn't exceed 500kb.
Please make sure the subject and/or text of your image is placed in the middle since it could be that it's horizontally and vertically cut off when you view it on a large screen desktop. See examples (4).
Choose an animated background 'Video' (optional)
You can add a short video with a repeating background. It should be an mp4 file and shouldn't exceed 10MB.
Please make sure the subject and/or text of your image is placed in the middle since it could be that it's horizontally and vertically cut off when you view it on a large screen desktop. The video will play repeatedly instead of the image (5).
Choose a video 'Video URL' (optional)
You can add a URL of a video that can be played behind the background image. This should be a public Vimeo or Youtube URL. If the video doesn't exceed 10MB it will autoplay, otherwise, the video will be behind a play button.
Add the link URL (optional)
Paste the URL to which the button should link to (8).
Add a link text (optional)
This button on the slider redirects to a URL. Fill in the button text here (7).
Note: If you redirect to a page within the platform don't use the full URL, but only the part after the language code.
Don't use:
- /en/initiatives/activities/list?location=110
Do use:
- /pages/how-it-works
- /initiatives/activities/list?location=110
Publish the slide
Once you are finished, go to the next tab 'Publication settings'.
To publish your page make sure to tick the 'Published box' instead of the 'Draft box'. A slide can only be created if publication date is added. You have the possibility to enter a 'Publication end date', this is not mandatory but can be used for a slide related to a campaign that ends on a certain date for example.
